Farmer's Market Poster

This is my entry into a contest to design a poster for a farmer's market. It took forever because there were so many colors, but I'm really happy with it! In a few weeks they'll let me know if I'm a finalist. :)

Jar of hearts (literally)

So the song Jar of Hearts came on the radio while I was driving this weekend, and for some reason I could just see this ink drawing, with the red accents and the moons and stars and everything. I don't know why there are moons and stars, it just came to me like that. :) It's not good to ignore inspiration when it hits you, you know?

Strawberry

Quiz time: What's the only fruit that has its seeds on the outside? I think I'll go eat a few right now...

Sunflower

This is not exactly the first time I've done this painting. It's not even the second. Unfortunately, I wasn't happy with my first attempt, and my second was better but whether or not I'm thrilled by it doesn't matter because I can't find it. :/ I haven't seen it since we moved. But it was such a good summer-y painting concept that I decided to try again. I'm certainly happier with this one than either of the other two, so maybe it's just as well! :)

Girl With Kite

I drew a person! Of my own free will! How unusual. :) I've been working on this painting in fits and starts for weeks now, so it's great to finally finish it. I am still not entirely sure if I like the kite -- the contrast of the stripes might be a little high, so I may go back and tweak it -- but overall I'm very pleased with how it turned out. This is a large canvas, too, 12"x24". It's a fun aspect ratio. :)

Another Stegosaurus

I gave the previous stegosaurus to a friend when I had kinda sorta a little bit suggested to a different friend that they could have it... sorry! :) I am a terrible person. To rectify my mistake I made another one. They are very different. The first one was all "what up, I'm a dinosaur. I'm chillin'." This one is like "omg I am hungry if only I was a little taller!!!"

What kind of fruit is that? Oddly colored coconuts? Gigantic lemons? I don't know! Look, this is set in prehistoric times. What do we know about the flora of that time, really? It could be anything!

Cat with yarn

It has been brought to my attention that this cat has a strangely long neck. Rest assured, I noticed. When I sketched it I thought to myself, gee, that's a really long neck for a cat. I tried a couple more sketches with more reasonable neck-related proportions. But that removed all of the cute. It just wasn't the same. And so, Oddly-Long Necked Cat remains.

(You might even call him pencil-necked. I would be OK with that.)
